A simple palette of sustainable materials, cedar and steel, is used to create texture and depth in an otherwise very limited project scope, the building face. Careful attention to connections, dimensions and detail is the real success of this revitalization. A ribbon of powder coated steel is punched out to reveal LED lighting announcing the awesome business and building owner, DNA Screenprinting, that commissioned this work. The City of Kitchener has a facade grant program which facilitates upgrades to local storefronts, this project has since been used as the lead image for their promotional material for the program.
